The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (DCSE) was established in 2002 and it is one of the two oldest departments of the university. The department was established with a vision to engender competent and skilled CSE graduates to avail and fill the lucrative job opportunities at that time. In spite of resource constraints at its early stage, care is taken so that high teaching quality is maintained at each stage of education. Premier University has established Cisco Networking Academy in collaboration with Cisco Systems where students and officials can learn professionalism.
At present, the department offers four-year undergraduate program titled Bachelor of Science (B. Sc.) in Computer Science & Engineering and has plans to start graduate programs in the near future. The courses of the undergraduate program have been designed so that students graduating from this department have a balance of theory and practical skills to prepare them for the highly competitive workplace.
The Department has successfully managed to attract highly competent and knowledgeable faculty members and researchers who are dedicated to offer the best available knowledge and experience to the students.
In 2002, the DCSE of Premier University started its academic activities with 13 undergraduate students and two full-time faculty members. The average number of students admitted or recruited in first semester was around 10 until 2012, from then it started to rise dramatically and at present the average is above 120. The graduates, students, faculty members, officers, staffs recently celebrated the glorious 15 years of this department.
Students of CSE operate a club named Computer Club aiming to share their skills and arrange contests to prepare themselves for national and international programming contests.
